Rhode Island Form RI W-4

Copy the actual RI W-4 line1 completed whole allowance count0–10 and line2 extra, independently of federal W-4. All filing statuses use the same published percentage tables; zero allowances is only an initial estimate, not a certificate eligibility decision. Each period retains its own constants and cents, including quarterly/semiannual; daily260. Above the published pre-allowance wage cutoff for that period, allowances become zero; at equality they remain. TDI/TCI is one employee contribution1.1% on up to$100,000 covered wages, maximum$1,100/year. Qualified retirement, medical, disability and Section125 employee contributions are excluded; no FICA substitution. Assumes ordinary covered work; select exclusion only if already verified. Annual bonus/overtime/tips averaged; separate5.99% or preceding-check aggregation, actualYTD/refunds, convenience/interstate allocation, exempt/military certificates and wage-law eligibility are excluded. Employer UI/JDF/WC not deducted. View Form RI W-4

Copy the actual completed whole total0–10, including self/spouse/dependents/additional allowances already claimed. No worksheet eligibility or federal credits inferred. Above the period wage cutoff, the allowance amount becomes zero.
Copy the actual requested amount, added once after percentage tax. Independent of federal extra withholding.
Only if your employer or agency has confirmed you are outside TDI coverage. We do not decide age, family employment, religious, disability, student, government or other exemptions. This removes only TDI/TCI; it does not exempt state income withholding. Ordinary covered employment is assumed otherwise. Interstate/convenience-only coverage is not inferred.

How Rhode Island withholding is calculated

Final2026 tables, same filing-status treatment

The agency’s final2026 booklet supplies each weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, annual and daily table. We retain their own thresholds, bases, allowance amounts and cents, not an annual-scaled substitute. Daily means260 modeled payments. All filing statuses share one state table; there is no separate married or head-of-household schedule. This is the percentage method, not an exact wage-bracket cell or final return.

Copy the actual RI W-4, not federal credits

The2026 RI W-4 requires its own completed total on line1, capped at10. It already includes self, spouse, dependent and additional allowances; we do not infer eligibility or add federal credits. Line2 extra is added once after percentage tax. Zero allowances is only the initial estimate, not a claimed statutory default. Exempt and military-spouse line3 certificates require their own verified scope and are excluded here.

Above the period wage cutoff, allowances stop

The percentage-method page makes the allowance amount zero only when wages before allowances exceed the published cutoff for that period. Weekly$5,592.31, biweekly$11,184.62 and annual$290,800 are actual separate printed thresholds. At equality the allowance remains; above it, it becomes zero. This is not a gradual phaseout or an extra tax bracket. The copied certificate count stays visible even when the allowance no longer reduces taxable pay.

Covered employee TDI includes TCI

The2026 employee rate is1.1% on the first$100,000 of covered wages, maximum$1,100. TCI belongs to the same program and is not a second payroll levy. Qualified employee retirement, medical, disability and Section125 contributions are excluded according to DLT’s employer FAQ; do not substitute FICA wages retaining retirement. Enter only benefits already confirmed eligible. Ordinary covered employment is assumed; mark exclusion only if confirmed by employer or agency. It removes TDI only, not state income withholding. Special age, family employment, student, religious, disability or government coverage, interstate localization and refunds are not decided by the calculator.

Estimate scope

Rhode Island 2026 actual percentage tables, same for all filing statuses; copied RI W-4 line1 whole allowances0–10 and line2 extra, independent of federal credits. Own period constants/cents, daily260, actual quarterly/semiannual. Allowances become zero only above the published pre-allowance wage cutoff for that period. Covered employee TDI 1.1%; $100,000 wage base; $1,100 annual maximum includes TCI; qualified retirement, medical, disability and Section125 contributions excluded before TDI, not FICA. Exclusion only if already confirmed. Annual bonus/overtime/tips averaged. Exempt/military certificates, separate supplemental checks, convenience/interstate allocation, refunds, actualYTD and wage-law eligibility excluded; employer UI/JDF/WC not deducted.

Supplements and legal wage obligations

Annual bonus, entered overtime and tips are averaged with regular wages. Separately paid5.99% or preceding-check aggregate methods and actual paydate/YTD limits are not reconstructed. UI/JDF and workers compensation insurance are employer obligations and not deducted. The2026 general minimum wage is$16/hour, with exceptions; tipped base$3.89 remains subject to legal requirements. Actual regular-rate, overtime coverage/exemptions, tip credit, local/interstate obligations and complete legal compliance require their own review.
