How Alaska withholding is calculated
Qualified benefits use a different UI wage base
Alaska excludes qualifying retirement contributions, including entered traditional 401(k), and qualifying health premiums from UI wages. Retirement remains federal FICA wages. This estimate does not automatically exclude unidentified other pretax deductions from UI wages; a dependent-care, cash or legal-services election is not interchangeable with health insurance. Confirm your actual benefit treatment.
The annual cap is not actual YTD payroll
Employee UI is 0.50% on up to $54,200 of modeled annual covered wages, capped at $271. The annual result is averaged over pay periods. Bonus, overtime and taxable tips count in this model. Actual cap stopping, interstate employer-transfer credits, successor accounts and refunds for multiple employers are not reconstructed. Employer UI and workers compensation premiums are not employee deductions.
Covered employees only
This estimate does not determine coverage. Reimbursable employers, self-employed owners, excluded or elected corporate officers, maritime/fishing and other special work require separate review. Do not use the ordinary covered-employee UI result for a job with a different legal coverage status. Another state's taxes or local obligations are not resolved by selecting Alaska.
Wage, overtime and paid sick leave
The general Alaska minimum wage is $13 before July 1, 2026 and $14 from that date. General overtime considers more than eight hours in a day or forty in a week, subject to coverage and exceptions. Weekly hours and a multiplier cannot determine daily overtime, exempt status, lawful regular rates or minimum-wage compliance. Paid sick-leave accrual, eligibility and employer administration are outside this estimate.

Alaska paycheck questions
What the Alaska estimate includes, which official schedules it uses, and what it deliberately leaves out.
Is an Alaska paycheck free of state deductions?
No. There is no state wage income tax, but covered employees of contributing employers pay employee unemployment insurance. Federal taxes and your actual benefits also affect the net.
What is the modeled net for a $52,000 biweekly salary?
With 26 payments, federal Single/zero adjustments and no benefits, bonus or tips: gross $2,000, employee UI $10, estimated net $1,680.85. Actual payroll can differ.
Does this calculate my exact cap-stop paycheck?
No. It averages the capped annual contribution across pay periods; it does not know actual prior payroll, multiple-employer refunds or transfer credits.
