How hourly-to-salary conversion works
The basic formula
Annual salary = hourly wage × regular hours per week × weeks worked per year. A full-time schedule is usually 40 hours and 52 weeks — 2,080 hours a year. At $25 per hour that comes to $52,000; at $30 per hour, $62,400.
Overtime
Overtime pay = hourly wage × multiplier × overtime hours. Five overtime hours a week at $25 and 1.5× adds $187.50 a week, or $9,750 a year — bringing the total to $61,750. Because overtime is rarely guaranteed, we show it separately from regular earnings.
Weeks worked and time off
Paid vacation and holidays count as worked time — keep 52 weeks. Unpaid leave, seasonal work or contract gaps do not. Working 50 weeks instead of 52 at $20 per hour and 30 hours a week changes the annual figure from $31,200 to $30,000.
Gross pay versus take-home pay
This page stops at gross pay. Your actual paycheck is lower after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, state and local taxes and any deductions. Use a state paycheck calculator below to estimate what you would actually take home.

Hourly to salary questions
The conversion formula, how overtime and weeks worked change the result, and what this page deliberately leaves out.
How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Multiply your hourly wage by your regular weekly hours, then by the number of weeks you work per year. At $25 per hour, 40 hours a week and 52 weeks a year, that is $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 per year. Add overtime separately: hourly wage × overtime multiplier × overtime hours per week × weeks worked.
Does this calculator show my take-home pay?
No. Every figure here is gross pay before federal, state and local income taxes, Social Security, Medicare and any deductions such as a 401(k) or health insurance. To see an estimated take-home figure, convert your wage here, then enter the annual salary in one of our state paycheck calculators.
Why does the number of weeks worked matter?
52 weeks assumes you are paid for every week of the year. If you take unpaid time off, work seasonally or have gaps between contracts, reduce the weeks — for example 50 weeks instead of 52. At $20 per hour and 30 hours a week, 52 weeks is $31,200 but 50 weeks is $30,000, a difference of $1,200.
Is paid time off treated the same as unpaid time off?
No. Paid vacation and paid holidays still count as worked weeks because you receive pay for them, so leave the weeks figure at 52. Only reduce weeks for time you are genuinely unpaid.
How is overtime included?
Enter your average overtime hours per week and the multiplier your employer pays — typically 1.5× for time-and-a-half. Overtime earnings are shown separately from regular earnings and added to the total, because overtime is usually not guaranteed income.
Is my wage information stored or sent anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs locally in your browser. Your hourly wage, hours and other inputs are never sent to a server or to analytics, and no account is required.
