Connecticut paycheck example
A $52,000 salary over 26 biweekly payments is $2,000 gross per check. This example uses single federal filing status without adjustments, actual CT-W4 code F and confirmed public Paid Leave coverage; no bonus, tips or voluntary deductions. No certificate or coverage eligibility is inferred. State withholding is $73.04, public Paid Leave $10 and net $1,607.81. Every amount below comes from the calculator's shared 2026 engine.
| Line | Per paycheck |

How Connecticut withholding is calculated
Five actual salary tables
TPG-211 Tables A–E annualize qualifying wages, subtract the discrete personal exemption, calculate initial tax, add the discrete 2% phase-out and tax recapture, then apply the salary-based personal credit. These are calculation rules, not final-return brackets or wage-bracket cells. At weekly $700 / code F the formula gives $17.79; the separate published $692–$701 wage cell gives $17.65. This calculator uses the formula without changing its constants to match a bracket cell.
Completed CT-W4 or no form
Copy A, B, C, D or F from your actual completed line 1; federal filing status does not choose it. Without a completed certificate the estimate starts at flat 6.99%, distinct from completed code D, which still uses Tables A–E with zero exemption and credit. Exempt E eligibility, spouse worksheets, military and nonresident certificates are outside scope. Enter actual line 2 additional withholding OR line 3 reduced withholding once; leave the other zero. An excess reduction or adjustment without an actual code blocks the report. We do not prepare or certify your certificate.
Confirmed public Paid Leave coverage
The public program employee contribution is 0.5% for 2026 on FICA-like wages up to $184,500 per employer, an annual planning maximum $922.50. Traditional retirement remains in the base; confirmed qualifying health is excluded. Other pretax amounts do not automatically reduce that contribution. Check coverage only after confirming ordinary public-program participation. Unchecked means not modeled, not an exemption. Government, school, railroad, tribal and other exclusions and approved private plans need actual facts. Enter only a confirmed actual private-plan post-tax premium once in Other post-tax; do not duplicate a public charge. No actual YTD, benefit-entitlement or multi-employer refund calculation.
Planning and wage-law limits
Annual bonus, entered overtime and reported taxable tips are averaged with ordinary wages; separate supplemental checks and actual payroll dates are not reconstructed. Daily 260 and quarterly/semiannual annualization are planning conventions, not printed CT period columns. Only already-confirmed qualifying benefit deductions reduce income-tax wages; federal nonwage W4 adjustments stay separate. The general 2026 minimum wage is $16.94; ordinary overtime is 1.5 times regular rate after 40 actual hours, with exceptions. Entered salary, multiplier and tips do not determine eligibility, lawful regular rate, tip credits or approved deductions. Employer UI/WC is not deducted. Local/interstate allocation, CT-W4NA and final-return credits are outside scope.
Estimate scope
Connecticut 2026 TPG-211 Tables A–E; not final-return tax or wage-bracket cells. Actual CT-W4 A/B/C/D/F; no form uses flat 6.99%, not code D. One actual line 2 extra OR line 3 reduction per pay; no excess reduction. Public Paid Leave only when confirmed: employee 0.5% on FICA wages up to $184,500 per employer; retirement stays, qualifying health excluded. Unchecked does not establish exemption; actual private-plan post-tax premium entered once. Bonus/overtime/tips averaged; qualified benefits only. Daily 260 and quarterly/semiannual are planning assumptions. Excludes exempt E, spouse worksheets, eligibility, separate checks, actual YTD, local/interstate allocation and wage-law compliance; no employer UI/WC charge.

Connecticut paycheck questions
What the Connecticut estimate includes, which official schedules it uses, and what it deliberately leaves out.
Is CT-W4 code D the same as no form?
No. Code D is a completed election using the actual calculation tables. Missing-certificate withholding uses flat 6.99%without exemption.
Is public Paid Leave included automatically?
No. Confirm ordinary public-program coverage before selecting it. Unchecked does not establish an exemption or calculate a private-plan premium.
Can I use extra and reduced withholding together?
This estimate supports one actual completed-certificate adjustment: line 2 additional OR line 3 reduction. Conflicting or excessive reductions block the report.
Is the estimate PDF free?
Yes, without an account. It is a planning estimate, not an official payroll statement, tax filing or legal compliance determination.
