What-if scenarios

Calculations are estimates for informational purposes and are not tax, legal, or financial advice. Actual withholding and take-home pay may differ.

How Nevada withholding is calculated

Working in Las Vegas, Reno or elsewhere in Nevada

Use Nevada for wages covered by Nevada rules. This calculator does not determine your work location, residence, or another state's taxing rights. If you live or work across a state border, a Nevada selection alone cannot resolve your other-state obligations.

Federal withholding still matters

A zero state line does not mean a tax-free paycheck. Your federal W-4, pay frequency and taxable earnings determine federal withholding. Social Security and Medicare are calculated separately under the shared 2026 federal rules.

Hourly wages, overtime and bonuses

Enter overtime hours separately from regular hours. NRS 608.018 can require daily overtime for lower-paid covered employees as well as weekly overtime, with exceptions including certain agreed four-day schedules. Weekly totals alone cannot establish entitlement, daily hours, exemptions or the lawful regular rate. This calculator prices the hours and multiplier you enter; it does not decide legal overtime or minimum-wage compliance. Bonuses and reported tips affect the federal estimate.

Benefits and take-home pay

Enter traditional retirement contributions, eligible health premiums and post-tax deductions as shown by your employer. Different deductions affect different taxable wage bases; an unknown benefit election cannot be inferred from salary alone.

Employer taxes are not employee deductions

Nevada DOR says Modified Business Tax cannot be deducted from employee wages; NRS 612.535 also prohibits deducting employer unemployment contributions. Neither is subtracted here. Employer tax liability, leave accrual, private benefits, garnishments and special pension arrangements are outside this employee estimate; enter only your actual permitted benefit deductions.

Nevada paycheck questions

What the Nevada estimate includes, which official schedules it uses, and what it deliberately leaves out.

Does Nevada withhold state income tax from wages?

No. Nevada Department of Taxation confirms that Nevada imposes no individual income tax on wages. Federal withholding, Social Security and Medicare still apply. This does not settle another state’s tax rights.

How much is a $52,000 Nevada salary per biweekly paycheck?

Before taxes and deductions, $52,000 divided over 26 biweekly checks is $2,000 per check. The worked example uses the shared calculation engine to show the federal taxes and estimated net amount.

Why does my employer's paycheck differ?

Your W-4, taxable benefit elections, garnishments, year-to-date wages, irregular payments and payroll rounding can change actual withholding. This is an annualized estimate, not a tax return or a payroll compliance determination.

Does this cover another state's tax if I commute across a border?

No. Nevada selection does not decide another state's residency, work-location or withholding obligations. Review the applicable state rules for cross-border work.
